MISSION STATEMENT

 The mission of Western Area Career & Technology Center is to provide a safe and secure environment for a positive, quality education leading to post-secondary education and/or sustainable employment through the acquisition and expansion of academic and technical skills.

GOALS 

FINANCE

By 2012, Western Area Career & Technology Center will generate revenues equal to 5% of the total budget from sources outside of the anticipated funding stream.

FACILITIES

By 2012, all technical program areas will be certified by an approved credentialing institution to offer industry recognized certifications to completing students.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

By 2013, the enrollment at Western Center Career and Technology Center will increase by 10%.

The retention rate of the Western Center Career and Technology Center will increase 5% per year.

The percentage rate of completing students attaining industry recognized credentials will increase at a rate of 15% per year.

TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Prior to 2009, 50% of all completing seniors will successfully complete a trade specific examination for certification.

The percentage of students successfully completing certification and/or NOCTI assessments will increase at a rate of 15% per year throughout the duration of this plan.

The percentage of students successfully attaining job placement will increase at a rate of 12% per year throughout the duration of this plan.

The percentage of students successfully enrolling in post secondary education and/or training will increase at a rate of 10% per year throughout the duration of this plan.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Mathematics

At least 45% of all students will be proficient in Mathematics, as measured by the annual statewide PSSA assessment. (Percentage of proficiency will be adjusted annually dependent upon the state standard)

Reading

At least 54% of all students will be proficient in Reading, as measured by the annual statewide PSSA assessment. (Percentage of proficiency will be adjusted annually dependent upon the state standard)
