ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE Local Staple, CJ's Furniture, Under New Ownership and Excited to Continue Serving the Community By Rachel Dvareckas Whether searching for a new couch, a lamp or that perfect accent piece to tie a room together, C.J.'s Furniture has it all. Husband and wife, Joe and Jaimie Amati, recently purchased the furniture store that has been in the community for almost 90 years. The duo are keeping the traditional inventory from the past owner, but they will be incorporating more modern pieces for today and the future. They will also be keeping the same vendors, many of which are located in North Carolina, and will give customers the opportunity to explore these different vendors by providing links on the new C.J.'s Furniture website. "A lot of the pieces on the floor right now are more traditional, so we are updating that with more streamline, sleeker looks and more modern chair styles," said Jaimie. The Amatis stress that the quality of the furniture will continue to be held to a high standard and that they will not be taking anything away, simply adding more diversity with the pieces they carry and sell. With over 150 lamps, 30 recliners and an array of couches and other furniture pieces, the Inventory on the showroom floor is vast and has many different price points, depending on the customer's budget. The services at the store do not stop at just selling pieces, they offer free delivery, room planning, in-home consults and custom upholstery. Jaimie goes on many of the deliveries to ensure the pieces fit in the room and the customer is satisfied. "We do a lot of room planning. I will work with someone and go to their house to measure and test out a few different options for the room," said Jaimie. "I go on most of the deliveries. We will bring a couple of different pieces and try to work with the customer." The store has carried over 1,000 different fabrics customers can choose from when getting their furniture upholstered, all of which are made in America. Joe and Jaimie have also added two new fabric lines to provide even more options to customers and for reupholstery of existing items. "We have pillow options in terms of firmness. We have four different options and people can feel the actual sample pillows," said Joe. Jaimie said if there is a custom piece someone wants done, they can facilitate the order with the vendor. She encourages people to browse the links of the vendors on their website. "I can't keep everything on the floor, but if they see a lamp that I do not have that they find on our vendor's site, I can put that in with my next order," Jaimie said. Exceptional customer service is important to the Amatis, so they try to do whatever they can to ensure the customer is satisfied. They keep their customers updated on orders and make sure they are communicating well about orders. "We go above and beyond to work with the customer to find what they are looking for," said Jaimie. "We take our time and we are not pushy with our sales." Joe and Jaimie have taken steps to be more modern with a brand new website where customers can browse the variety of services they offer. They also made a Facebook page that has helped them gain new business and they now accept credit cards. The customer-centered approach the duo has taken brings a new era to the beloved furniture store that will hopefully continue for another 90 years.
