CIVICS CIVILITY COLLABORATION CASH PRIZES! Open to all Washington County students grades 2 through 12 2023 Contest Theme: "Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration." The United States has a proud history as one of the oldest continuing democracies in human history. Over the course of nearly 250 years, it has experienced wonderful growth, although not without facing many obstacles and challenges along the way. The United States is now, however, at a critical moment in its national history. We face a country divided over many issues - voting rights, policing, public health, and climate change - to name a few. These divisions have roiled our politics. We have experienced decreasing faith in institutions and a growing distrust of one another. These challenges are aggravated by a general lack of understanding of civics, the U.S. Constitution, and the way American government works, and are deepened by incivility in our public discourse. In this time of division, how can the cornerstones of our democracy civics, civility, and collaboration - restore confidence in our democratic institutions and protect the rule of law? 2023 LAW 65 DAY CORNERSTONES of DEMOCRACY Entry Deadline is 4:00 PM on April 14, 2023 Bookmark Contest: Grades 2-5 Editorial Essay Contest: Grades 6-12 Creative Arts Contest: Grades 6-12 Peeps Diorama Contest: Grades 6-12 & Adults Citizenship Project Award A & Bar Foundation Washington County For complete contest rules and regulations, download contest brochure at washcobar.org/public-education or contact the Bar Association at wcba@washcobar.org or 724.225.6710 Observer-Reporter observer-reporter.com CIVICS CIVILITY COLLABORATION CASH PRIZES !
