This event honors those of our Washington County community whose achievements have epitomized excellence, and honors historical figures whose legacy has shaped the history of the County. This year, the Historical Society will be honoring The Northrop Family Leaders in community-focused publishing, the Northrop family owned and operated the Observer Publishing Company for four generations. Jeanne Marie Laskas - An author, feature writer and professor Ms. Laskas's work includes the New York Times bestseller Concussion, the basis for the Golden-Globe-nominated film. received praise for his ability to combine remarkable glimpses of history with Western Pennsylvania landscapes and posthumous honorees Delvin Miller (1913-1996) - A harness racing legend, Mr. Miller had a career spanning eight decades, winning 2,442 races and more than $11 ion Dr. Jonathan Letterman (1824-1872) A native of Canonsburg Dr. Lettrman instituted numerous advances in batlefield medicine as the medical director of the Army of the Potomac.
