NOTICE Notice is hereby given that Allegheny Energy Supply Company, LLC (AESC) 800 Cabin Hill Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601 ATTN: William Cannon (telephone (724) 838-6018) intends to provide a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) application update to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) for the decommissioned (Oct. 2013) Hatfield's Ferry Power Station (Hatfield). This application seeks issuance of a renewed permit reflecting the cessation of all power station process wastewater discharges, the elimination of certain outfalls and the conversion of others to a stormwater only discharge status. AESC's application also requests that all Coal Combustion Byproduct landfill-associated outfalls be removed from the power station's renewed NPDES permit as Hatfield's landfill was sold (May 2015) to Energy Harbor Generation LLC (EHG), 168 E Market St., Akron OH 44308 ATTN: Glenn Truzzi (telephone (330) 730-9321). EHG is submitting a concurrent application for a new NPDES permit, separate and distinct from the power station's for these existing landfill discharges. Both of these applications are being made under the provisions of the Clean Streams Law, the Act of June 22, 1937, P.L. 1987, as amended. Persons desiring additional information concerning these permit applications should contact the applicants as indicated above, or the PADEP at the following address: Regional Water Quality Manager, PA Department of Environmental Protection, 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-4745 after November 25, 2020.
